Stuck in Forest Grove, OR

So, it all started out with an exciting 4-day Oregon trip...a couple days in Portland for an Advocare Conference (which knocked our socks off, and blessed us so much!) and then on to Cannon Beach for a beautiful sunny day in God's amazing creation (I was soooo looking forward to this). Just about 40 minutes away from the beach, our car lost all power, and into a nearby gas station we coasted. Little did we know that we'd spend the next 8 hrs. there, on the side of the highway, in the middle of nowhere...alternator belt long gone. So, anyway, long story short, we made it to a little country town called Forest Grove...far from the fabulous ocean front hotel that was awaiting us in Cannon Beach(my heart aching to be so close...and still so far away). By God's grace, we ALL fit into the tow truck, and made it safely to our new home for the next couple of days. We are currently waiting on an alternator to be delivered out to us...and to have it installed, so that we can return home. In all of this, we are asking...why? what? how? But we find rest in knowing that the Lord knows, even when we don't...and we trust He has a purpose! Please pray for us...that we can get our van fixed and come home. For now...we'll be here in Forest Grove.

  1. We've had so many car stalling stories in our life together as husband and wife. Your situation brings back all the discouragement that it brought on the side of highways and old motels and frigid truck stops...seriously, we've had at least 5 such stories traveling by car....but now I look back and remember God's hand in helping us get to safety each and every time. There are even some sweet memories tucked in an old truck stop in Wyoming with a mechanic who could have been Stephen King's twin, a an old, gruff, but compassionate farmer who towed us in White Bird, Idaho and even lonely Riggins, stuck the first day of my student teaching career. I will be praying for you...that you see the sunshine through the clouds and that you are able to make Forest Grove a sweet adventure for the kids. Take care and stay safe sweet family. Let us know if we can do anything!

  2. I am praying for you to come home soon and for your sanity, stuck with 3 little ones in the middle of nowhere! We were actually in Forest Grove last May visiting family (they live on a farm outside of town). It's quite pretty there so I hope you are enjoying the view at least!

  3. Hey... Forest Grove is part of Nathan's old stomping grounds :-) Not too far from where Nathan's grew up. We were just in Oregon for Easter.. I pray the weather cooperates for you a bit better than it did for us :-) It really is such a pretty area... I pray you are all able to find this a peaceful time out of the daily grind. And that your new part gets there soon!
